Description
A shockingly clean collectible Gibson with some special and rare features not found on many models with my favorite being the embossed Gibson pickups, which are also in excellent condition. I have seen a set of these embossed Patent No. pickups alone (without the rest of the guitar!) sell for $1600 on Reverb. That is nuts.
This guitar is in incredible condition for its age and comes in a very nice chainsaw case, which is also in excellent condition. All latches work quite well. The Rosewood fretboard on the guitar is one of the best features. It is one of the nicest boards I have seen from that or any era and beautifully colored and figured. This guitar also came, stock, with the Gibson Tremolo, which is super cool! There are some light marks on the headstock and neck, but the body is very, very clean. The frets show little wear with no repairs or mods to the guitar. Pots date to 1971 and the guitar sounds absolutely amazing. The thin neck is a joy to play with a nice C profile that transitions to a C-D towards the high end.
I can’t say enough good things about this instrument. Without a doubt the best SG I have played and a real collector’s find. If you have any questions or would like more photos, please do not hesitate to ask. You almost never see a 1972 with these original pickups, so this was a find. BTW, this guitar did not come with a chainsaw case. I think that is a nice bonus. If you would prefer a standard SG case, just let me know.
